While Howard Hughes and TWA were the lead airline for the Lockheed Connie, he avocated acquisition of the Douglas DC-6B over the L-749. Damon successfully opposed this assuring that the Constellation remained in the TWA fleet mix and expanded in the future. This TWA L-749A, N6008C, was photographed at an undiclosed location in the early 1950s. (AAHS photo archives, AAHS-P001790)
